Erin Vander Stelt
Botany and Wetland Science
Erin's love for the natural world led her to complete a B.A. in Ecological Science at Northwestern College in 2010 and a M.S. in Plant Biology and Conservation at Northwestern University in 2013. A certified Professional Wetland Scientist, she works as an environmental consultant that specializes in habitat assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys, and wetland delineations.

Her work has allowed her to travel regularly in the Midwest and occasionally farther, and Erin loves the excitement and challenge that comes with engaging new habitats and plant communities. She finds the truest form of humanity comes when we engage with the world, when we learn the language of plants and animals and weather, and when we spend the time learning how we can act in ways that benefit not only humans, but the world that sustains us, too.

“Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.” - Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass
